UPPER CHITRAL: Foundation to Empower Students (FES) successfully inaugurated its second In-School Language Lab at Space Era Model School, Booni on 9th of March 2021 first lab is already in place and running successfully at Pamir Public School Booni. Through In-School Language Labs FES aims to provide quality English language skills, teacher training, technology proficiency and career counselling and coaching resources. The primary focus is to improve English speaking and listening skills among primary students.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by community leaders, educationists, scholars, and people from different walks of life. Miss. Farkhanda Ahmad, Program Manager FES shared the vision and mission of the Foundation. Highlighting the dilapidating conditions of education in third world countries especially Pakistan she stressed on the need for having a quality in education especially English language skills. Moreover, she also shared the short-term and long-term plans of the project in Chitral. Attendees of the ceremony also highlighted the issues and challenges faced by learners in Chitral and expressed that this initiative would be highly productive in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that FES work in a close collaboration with the Schools and provides internationally recognized digital resources for English language learning and provides two English Language Facilitators per lab who will conduct the classes and will work with the existing schoolteachers to build their capacity in teaching English Language Skills. The aim is to establish a total of four In-School Language Labs in Booni by the end of 2022 expanding its impact to 1000+ students 100+ teachers and 10 English Language Facilitators.
Foundation to Empower Students (FES) has been formed as a public limited company under the Companies Act. 2017, with the primary objective “to provide scholarship to students and grant aid including supply of books, stipends, medals, prizes, grants, awards, medicines, educational career support, bursaries and other incentives to needy and deserving students for the purpose of advancement of knowledge, education and literacy.
