    Awareness session and walk held on Congo Virus in Chitral town

    CHITRAL; To fight the possible attack of Congo fevel, anti-ticks spray to the animals  being brought to the market for selling on the occasion of forthcoming Eidul Azha was started here on Wednesday by the livestock department with the financial assistance of Pakistan Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program (PSLEP).

    The district director livestock, Dr. Gul Zamin  Khan and PSLEP regional project manager Shafiqullah Khan formally inaugurated the campaign by spraying a number of sacrificial animals followed by an awareness walk that started from Chew bridge and culminated at Atalique Bazaar.

    Dr. Gul Zamin Khan said that the campaign will continue till Eidul Azha so that hundred percent animals in the local market could be sprayed against the ticks in their bodies which were the potential vectors of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever while the sellers and the buyers both were vulnerable to it.

    He said that special arrangements had been made to publicize the campaign while special teams have also been constituted on different veterinary hospital level across the district to carry out anti-ticks spray.

    The activists of civil society organizations attended the awareness walk in large number carrying banners and placards highlighting the issue.
