94 women, 74 non Muslim file nomination papers for reserved seats as ECP extended time ends
PESHAWAR (APP): The extended deadline of Election Commission of Pakistan for submission of nomination papers peacefully concluded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening.
According to Provincial Election Commission office, a total of 94 women candidates filed nomination papers for the national assembly and 304 for KP assembly reserved seats.
Similarly, 74 non-Muslim candidates also submitted nomination papers till 4:30a.m for reserved seats.
Former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has filed nomination papers from NA-2, NA-3 and NA-4 Swat, former Federal Minister Ghulam Bilour from NA-32 and Engr Amir Muqam from NA2 Swat.
The scrutiny of nomination papers would start tomorrow(Monday). As per the schedule, scrutiny of the nomination papers will be carried out upto 30th of this month.
Earlier, the electoral watchdog set a deadline of December 22 for filing the nomination papers, however, the date was extended to facilitate the aspiring candidates and political parties.
Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be submitted until the 3rd of January and decisions on these appeals will be made by January 10.
The list of candidates will be displayed on January 11, and candidates would have the option to withdraw until January 12.
The electoral symbols will be allotted on the 13th of January, and polling for the general elections will be held on February 8.
To address complaints and supervise electoral process, Provincial Monitoring Control Room was setup at the office of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Election Commissioner and it has started function.
