Chitral on the brink of Extremism – By Fazlur Rahman
Extremist Ideology has been dominated the country since its inception. Unfortunately, it has gained momentum in the 21st century and the ghost of Extremism has haunted the very peace and harmony in the society.
From few days, a video has been circulating on social media, where Students can be seen celebrating a Cultural Show__including folk music and cultural dance, has remained a target for the right-wing lobby. The so called ‘Mazhabi Thekadars’ grasped the opportunity and have shattered the social harmony.
Ironically, some well educated youth__who have remained parts of such co-curricular activities during their educational career, have left no stone unturned to pour cold water on the already spoiled situation. This is indeed a hypocrisy itself.
As most of the public doesn’t know what actually has happened. Keeping in view the growing concern of extremism the provincial government has given direction to higher institutions within its domain, to train the teachers and students and to establish a ‘Peace Club’, aimed to promote peace in the society.
Some of the concerned authorities to pass along the message had visited University of Chitral last week. They had arranged a program for this purpose and established ‘The PEACE CLUB University of Chitral’. The Honourable Chief Guest, Fauzia Shehzad__Director Higher Education Regulatory Authority distributed certificates among the trainees. She also eulogized the University’s cooperation and specially the enthusiasm of the youth in this regard.
But what has aroused an extreme anger among the public is a video of the Cultural Show, that was also part of the program. Soon after the video got viraled, the institution has been a target of Harsh Criticism. The so called ‘Facebooki Danishwars‘ took up the opportunity for point scoring and have been commenting on it___ blah blah blah…
This reflects the ill-mentality of our society.
In an age of technology and scientific innovation, we are still living under the hovering sword of Extremism.
Before it tatters the society we should curb this havoc of extremism.
