Target of one million plantation achieved on Pakistan Day: Forest Dept Chief
PESHAWAR (APP): Chief Conservator of Forests, Ahmad Jalil here Tuesday said that plantation target of one million saplings on Pakistan Day has been successfully achieved and efforts was underway to plant 1.4 million saplings on August 14.
Talking to APP, he said that whopping plantations target was achieved in a single day under the Chief Minister’s ehsaas tree plantation campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The forest department and official teams participated in the plantation drive across the province.
Civil society, officials of districts administration and students were also actively involved in the afforestration campaign.
He said a special website was launched for live monitoring of the initiative. Citizens were given the facility to plant saplings themselves and upload the data.
The plantation campaign will continue and is not limited to just one day, he said.
He added that the care and protection of the planted saplings will be ensured.
Forests department chief said that preparations are underway to plant 1.4 million saplings on August 14 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ahmad Jalil said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the largest province in the country in terms of forest resources.
He said efforts are ongoing to protect forests and increase forest area, adding special arrangements are being made to involve civil society and youth in the campaign.
