Security for Chinese in Lawi project beefed up
CHITRAL: Work on the site of Lawi Hydro Power Project in Drosh, Chitral has been stopped and could not be restarted here on Friday as the Chinese officials of the construction company confined themselves to their camps after the incident in Shangla.
Acting district police officer Lower Chitral, Abdul Sattar Khan told Dawn that extraordinary measures for the security of the Chinese nationals in the power project had been taken to provide them with a sense of security.
He said that fool proof security arrangements were made in a large radius around the camp of the construction and strict vigilance is kept over each and every person and their movement while a senior officer of deputy superintendent level has been deployed there permanently to oversee the situation.
The DPO said that the presently, there were only two Chinese nationals in the project while those engaged in the mining sites in different areas including Lot Koh had left for their country.
