CHITRAL; Scholarships worth of Rs. 2 lakh were distributed among the top three position holders of matriculation examination in Chitral district by Qari Faizullah, an eminent philanthropist and administrator of Karachi-based Jamia Imam Muhammad in a function held here on Saturday.
District education officer Chitral Ihsanul Haq gave away the cash of scholarship and Iqra Award to the three students each in public and private sector schools and a Kalash student.
Addressing on the occasion, Ihsanul Haq said that the generosity of Qari Faizullah by giving scholarships of substantial amount to the students since 2003 proves that the religious leaders did not differentiate between the religious and science education and they wholeheartedly patronized modern education.
He said that the scholarships have induced cut-throat competition among the students since their inception fifteen years ago and the affluent people should follow this model and contribute to the standard education by patronizing the talented students as it has so far enabled many indigent students to carry on their studies in colleges.
Earlier, the speakers Maulana Khaleequz Zaman, Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir, Prof: Sahibuddin, Saidi Khan and others appreciated the services of Qari Faizullah and said that it was not only limited to the sector of education but he rushed to the disaster hit villages of the district with relief items.
The scholarship holders of first category of Rs. 40000 each included Farjad Owais of Broze Public School and Shabbir Hassan of Government High school Kushum, second category of Rs.30000 each to Huma Batool of Frontier Corps Public School and Usmanuddin of Government High School Melp, Rs. 20000 each to Andaleeb Younus of Frontier Corps Public School and Saifullah of Government High School Sheshi Koh.
A Kalash student Leena Sheragli of The Langland’s School was also given special scholarship on this occasion.
