CHITRAL: The residents of Drosh town have demanded of the government to shift the maternity and child healthcare centre (M&CHC) back to its building from a rented home to which it had been moved three years ago without any reason.
The social activist from Drosh, Haji Muhammad Shafa told the media persons that established in 1964 in its own building located at the centre of the town, the healthcare facility has been virtually been closed for the public since it was shifted.
He said that very few people knew where the M&CHC has been shifted to as its incharge, a lady health visitor of health department, has not yet bothered to install a sign board to show its location which is established in her personal home.
He alleged that the incharge runs a private clinic near the THQ hospital right during the duty hours while no one knows about the other employees of the centre since long who are drawing salaries from the department.
Mr. Shafa questioned the very shifting of the M&CHC from its own building and said that there was no need of it at all while due to its virtual closure, the people of the two union councils of Drosh are in great distress because it was an effective tool of family healthcare.
He said that the centre provided a good of healthcare services to the women during pregnancy and after delivery and the neonatal while the normal immunization of children and pregnant women was also carried out here.
He said that being a centre of post-natal care, the centre provided important data with the THQ hospital not only in delivery cases but also about a number of health indicators.
He alleged that the officers of the health department in district level were also involved in the mismanagement and corrupt practice without whose tacit support it could not have been possible.

Ikram Hussain Advocate elected as president Drosh Bar Association

CHITRAL: Advocate Ikram Hussain was elected as president of Drosh Bar Association unopposed in the election held here the other day.
The other office-bearers included Ghafar Ali advocate vice-president, Zamarud Shah advocate general secretary, Hussain Ahmed advocate finance secretary, Basharat Iqbal press secretary, and Iltaf Hussain advocate library secretary.
The senior lawyers Shafqat Hussain advocate and Fazle Maula advocate were elected as the members of executive committee.
