1. Metaphor
Tu ke daryae shurshoor, the muxo ghernanu awa yarei
Ta khosh darakan muxi we tatu we nanu awa yarei
If you are the brimming mighty river, I am a whirlpool in it. From amongst your lovers, I am a parentless person.
2. Simile
Na parizaad ta ghona, na aademi, na merxhuri yarei
Allahei Ta qudrata qesma bandagan axuni,yarei
Neither a fairy nor any human being is beautiful like you. O Allah, Your Providence creates charming human beings at various levels of beauty and charm.
3. Repetition and Visual Imagery
Zoman Soren baghatam, Peche qonan muxen baghatam, yarei
Zrukh zrukh kelav baghatam,ashurjan maxhav baghatam,yarei
I went over the hilltop; I went through hot ambers; I went weeping bitterly; and I went wiping away the tears.
3.Rhetorical question
Ju bas Shogrami biti Reshnoten ke gos kyani boi,yarei?
Ta takka ju gamburi, egho mat ke dos kyani boi, yarei
4.Symbolism
Kurenen kuri baghai, Mirza Mah Seyaro loloor, yarei
Pardah gehrt Gani sher, thoona ma setharo loloor, yarei
Here, setar ( the stringed musical instrument) symbolizes the earthly love, while the dust set on it symbolizes Seyar’s journey away from this lower kind of love towards the Divine Love.
8. Hyperbole
Shoon laghal don durdaana, lu ke prav,ta lu namaken…
Chhiti ma krokno chharur ushluyee hardio batin yarei
The breaking off if the heart’s connecting cord into the body cavity is an exaggerated statement, and shows the intensity of the poet’s emotions.
9. Auditory imagery
Chaghleyei chagh mo Kore awa byabana asum
Napuk history ma mula, pong lakhi alghana asum
The cawing of the Chaghli causes disturbance and despair to the heater ot the poet
