Chitral Times Report
ISLAMABAD: On request of MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi issued Directives on 9th May 2018 for “Inclusion of 20 Solar Tube Wells alongwith Pipelines for Irrigation in District Chitral in PSDP 2018-19”.
It is now the job of the next MNA to pursue and have these projects worth Rs 10 Crores practically implemented to overcome the scarcity of irrigation water in the subject areas;
It may be noted that in February 2018 a private company was engaged to survey many areas and Pak PWD was asked to implement the projects but PAk PWD refused stating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Program doesn’t allow Solar Tubewells .
Alternately one option to get the projects done was through Budgetary Allocations in PSDP 2018. It had therefore become necessary to have these projects funded through PSDP 2018 and now the PM Directives has paved the way for Practical Implementation of the Projects:
MNA will speak with potential implementing agencies including any one of the following to have the projects implemented:
1) Pak PWD
2) Irrigation department KPK
3) TMOS
4) Federal Ministry of Water.
Once the implementing agency is finalized they will be asked to prepare PC-1 for each site by physically visiting each site.
Since the first part of PM Directives has been achieved, it now is left to next MNA to pursue the PM Directives and take the projects to their logical conclusion.
