CHITRAL; Due to the strike of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers in Chitral for the last two weeks, the commodity has ran out in the district who are demanding increase in price including the transportation charge in transporting it from Rawalpindi.
The dealers went on strike when the consumer court on 27th November last, decreed on the petition of a consumer that the LPG should be sold at the rate fixed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and had declared null and void the rate list fixed by the district administration.
In the judgment, the court had admonished the district administration for fixing the prices of LPG saying that it was the sole authority of OGRA to fix the prices of the commodity.
The authorized dealers of LPG contended that the gas companies did not provide them with transportation charges from Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Chitral and they had no other option but to charge it from the consumers.
