CHITRAL: In the open kutchery held here on Friday held by Chitral DC Irshad Sodhar, the people of Chitral piled up the complaints of corruption and mismanagement on Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and said that the company only knows to send bills to its consumers and extort money while it has miserably failed to provide electricity to them.
They complained that the PESCO consumers are made to repair the breakdown of transformers by their pockets while it was the duty of the company to carry out maintenance of its gadgets and transmission lines.
They also complained about the shortage of doctors in different hospitals of the district and the inundation of spurious drugs in the local medicine market and complained that the drug inspector remains willfully absent from his duty since with the connivance of the local officers of the department.
They also complained that the journey from Chitral to Dir has been curtailed by two hours but the fares of both goods and passengers remained unaltered and the transporters have been let free to fleece the people.
Addressing on the occasion, the DC said that no leniency will be shown to the officers who failed to effectively control their respective departments and reminded the officers that they were public servants not the masters and they should behave in a manner to provide relief to the people.
