Justice (R) Arshad Hussain appointed new caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
PESHAWAR (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Haji Ghulam Ali here approved the summary of appointment of Justice (R) Arshad Hussain Shah as new caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
The summery was forwarded to the KP Governor after consenses was reached on the name of justice retired Arshad Hussain Shah between former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and ex opposition leader Akram Durrani under the constitution, says an offical statement here today.
Meanwhile, Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah here Sunday night took oath as caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali administered the oath to the newly appointed caretaker Chief Minister during an impressive ceremony here at Governor House.
Besides others, the oath taking ceremony was attended by Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Mayor Peshawar Zubair Ali, former caretaker provincial ministers, Chief Secretary KP Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, IGP Akhtar Hayat Gandapor, Commissioner Peshawar and administrative secretaries of various departments.
The Governor congratulated the new caretaker Chief Minister and expressed best wishes to him.
Earlier, Syed Arshad Hussain Shah was appointed as caretaker CM KP by the Governor after consenses on his name was reached between former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and ex opposition leader Akram Durrani at Chief Minister house under the constitution.
He was appointed after the death of former caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan.
Arshad Hussain had earlier served as caretaker Law Minister, Chief Justice Gilgit Baltistan court and judge of Peshawar High Court.
The newly appointed caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Arshad Hussain Shah carried vast administrative experience and earned great name as Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan.
Belonged to Abbottabad district of Hazara Division, Justice (r) Arshad Hussain Shah was serving as a caretaker Law Minister in the Cabinet of former caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam who passed away on Saturday due to cardic arrest.
Prior to joining the Azam Khan’s cabinet, Justice retired Arshad Hussain Shah had served as the chief justice of Gilgit Baltistan from 2019-2022 and earned great name as senior jurist.
He decided important cases in Gilgit Baltistan besides initiated reforms for strengthening of law department in KP.
Meanwhile, the political and civil society leaders congratulated the newly appointed caretaker Chief Minister Justice retired Arshad Hussain Shah and expressed the hope that he would utalize his energies by assisting the Election Commission of Pakistan in holding of free, fair and transparent election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
