Government officers and officials ensure their presence in their offices…DC

    By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: The newly posted Chitral DC has warned the government officers and officials to ensure their presence in their offices during the working hours abstain from leaving their offices on flimsy grounds while it should not take more than a week’s time to redress the problems of people when they are brought to the notice of the concerned officers.

Addressing the gathering of people in his office to apprise him of their individual and collective issues from different parts of the district here on Wednesday, he said that the days with his posting here, the days have gone when the complaints lodged by the people took many months for taking action and redress the grievances.

“I will pursue each and every case in every department and will force government officers and officials to duly contact the appellants by telephone to give them details after the action being taken on their plaint”, he said and added that a proper mechanism was being evolved out to make it a reality.

Mr. Sodhar said that the district heads of all the government departments of the province have been constrained to leave the
district without taking proper permission from the DC office as in the past, the officers left the district on one pretext or the other which greatly impaired the official business leading to bad governance.

The complaints lodged on this occasion to him related to different government departments including food, local government and rural development, public health engineering, health and education on both collective and individual levels which the DC referred to the respective departments for submission of reports within a week’s time.

MPA from Chitral, Saleem Khan who was also present on the occasion, lauded the efficient and earnest response of the DC to the public complaints and said that lethargy and corruption had weakened the government institutions in the district which was already in the grips of problems.

Talking to the media present on the occasion, he will extend his full support to the officer to streamline the government departments making the officers subservient to the public.

Earlier, the DC inspected the cleanliness drive week which was in progress for the last four days and went to different parts of the city and watched the washing process of Bypass Road where effluence of high density had been accumulated causing public nuisance.
