    The Garam Chashma valley mourns the sad demise of Mr. Mirza Hayat (R. Subedar)

    An Obituary

    The most notable figure of Chitral Scouts, Mr. Mirza Hayat peacefully passed away at his native village Ovirk at about 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was receiving treatment at Islamabad for cardiac disease where his health deteriorated rapidly and died shortly after he was brought back to his home on the same day. Mr. Mirza Hayat, alias piler (best player), was widely known for his valour, courage, dutifulness, best performance as basketball player, simplicity, honesty and patriotism.
    Mirza Hayat s/o Mirza Aman was born in a small village of Garam Chashma in the year 1933. He served in Chitral Scouts from 1951 to 1976. At the age of 43, he approached retirement. The deceased was a key basketball player in the Chitral Scouts and had also been part of the Frontier Corps team. Furthermore, after retirement, Mr. Hayat also led the Chitral Border Force.
    He was father to a son and five daughters. Mr. Altaf Hussain, Accountant at AKS Ovirk is his only son. The deceased was father-in-law to the current Deputy President of ANP Chitral Mr. Qurban Ali (Retired Subedar Major). Also, he had been a grandfather to Mr. Muhammad Nabi, lecturer at Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Kuragh, Chitral.

    On this irreparable loss, our condolences go to his son and other family members. We pray that may Allah bless the family with the courage to endure this almost unbearable loss (amen). People from all walks of life expressed their grief at his death either in person or through telecommunication.
    We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return (Noble Quran 2:156).
