CHITRAL: Exhumation of the grave of one Aslam Baig was carried out here on Saturday in Brep village who had been buried on April 14 last when his death occurred reportedly due to heart attack but his father later registered a criminal case against his daughter-in-law and her accomplice in October 10 contending that his son had been murdered by them.
Spokesman of Chitral Police, Muhsinul Mulk told Chitral Times that the fifteen numbers of sample from the body of the deceased were sent to the forensic laboratories in Peshawar and Lahore after the exhumation of the grave which was conducted by a team of three doctors on the orders of the district and sessions judge.
He said that the exhumation was carried in the presence of Civil Judge Booni Ijaz Younus and a team of doctors consisting of Dr. Rashid Zafar, Dr. Farman and Dr. Saad of health department.
He said that the body had been buried without conducting autopsy as the father of the deceased was then in Islamabad while he was convinced of the murder of his son when his daughter-in-law Zakia got married with Syed Shahab of her village Zhupo the very day the five month period (iddat) matured on 10th October.
The complainant Purdum Baig, father of the deceased, approached the Mastuj police station to get the case registered against Zakia and her accomplice who happened to be a constable of Chitral Police and case was finally registered under section 302 of PPC while the residents of Brep village also took protest procession to arrest the two for murder.
An official of Mastuj police station said that the accused had Syed Shahab had confessed to his crime before police during investigation and had admitted that he committed the crime to remove the deceased and marry his wife Zakia who was equally involved in the act and got him intoxicated by giving him drug mixed tea.
He said that the accused, however, went back of his words before the court and refused to make confession and was sent to judicial lock up while the challan of the case was being submitted to the court and the report of autopsy will be made a part of it.
