CHITRAL: One-to-one competition will take place between the candidates of PTI and that of MMA in the election to the general seat of zilla council from Oveer of upper Chitral which had fallen vacant in July last when Abdul Latif of PTI resigned to contest the general election for National Assembly.
As per finalized list released from the offices of assistant commissioner and returning officer here on Thursday, Javed Iqbal of PTI and Habibuddin (MMA) are the two candidates for the election which will be held on December 23.
Azizur Rahman Janbaz of the constituency said that in the general elections of July last, the MMA candidates had taken a majority from the area despite the fact that the PTI nominee Abdul Latif hailed from it.
He said that the MMA candidate is being supported by PPP and PML-N as well which will pave his way to the victory but a tough competition is expected.
Meanwhile, the returning officer has issued the unopposed election of Muhammad Idress as general councilor of neighborhood council Zargarandeh which had fallen vacant after the incumbent Murad Khan had resigned on personal grounds six months ago.
