KURAGH: District level Science and Mathematics competition was held at AKHSS Kuragh on Saturday. The event witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation. Eleven schools from all over the district participated in the competition.
Guests from different educational institutions honored the program with their presence. To mention them, principal AKHSS Hunza, Gahkuch, SherQila,Gilgit and AKHSS Seenlasht. Senior Manager School Development of AKES Chitral, principals of private schools and government schools, principals of Aga Khan Schools along with other notables of the district also graced the occasion.
Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO) Mr Hafeez Noorullah was presiding the program. However, District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Mr Muhammad Saleh was the chief guest of the program.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy verses from Quran followed by Hamd, Naat and national song. After that principal AKHSS Kuragh Mrs. Sultana Burhanuddin welcomed the guests and shared the objectives of the program. She further shed light on the fact that AKHSS Kuragh promotes extra-curricular activities along with academics. Moreover, she highlighted the important role of AKHSS Kuragh that it encourages positive competition and hopes to bring out the best in all its students through such competitive events, while ensuring that students should learn from all possible ways, not just through books and classroom teaching. She conveyed her best wishes for the competition.
On this occasion Mr. Azizur Rehman, lecturer Physics and MrJamshaid Sarwar, lecturer Biology of Government Degree College Booni along with Science teachers of Government High School Chitral Mr. Imran Khan and Majid Ullah served as judges in the quiz competition. However, MsFarhana Hayat, lecturer GovtGirls Degree College Booni along with Mr. Sami Ur Rehman science teacher Government School Mroi were hosting the quiz competition.
The format of the quiz entailed four rounds. Every round was a mixed bag with questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The quiz truly was a learning experience both for the audience and participants.
Although all the teams participated actively, but at the end there was only one winner and that was AKHSS Kuragh.AKHSS Seenlasht and FCPS Chitral secured second and third position respectively.
On this occasion, Chief Guest DMO Chitral, Muhammad Saleh in his speech appreciated the organization for organizing creative programs. He especially appreciated the efforts of Principal AKHSS Kuragh, Sultana BurhanUddin, for her initiative in arranging such positive activities for improving the quality of learning among students of different schools. He further said that the program not only limited to quiz competition but also gave awareness regarding adverse effects of cold drinks and broiler chickens. Moreover, he emphasized to give preference to conceptual learning over rot learning.
Deputy District Education Officer, Mr. HafeezNoorullah, in his speech talked about the glorious past of the Muslims and said that Muslim scholars developed a spectrum of viewpoint on science within the context of Islam. He further said that Quran is a revolutionary book .The Quran exhorts Muslim to study nature and investigate the truth. However, unfortunately we are not following their footsteps. Instead, we are lagging behind. He emphasized that both teachers and students should focus on practical learning rather theoretical learning. He urged the students to help humanity through new inventions.
At the end of the program, trophies were awarded to winner and runner up teams. However, participation certificates were awarded to all the quiz participants.
Principal Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Kuragh, Mrs. Sultana Burhanuudin presented shields to chief guest and president of the event.
The students of AKHSS kuragh entertained the audience by presenting comedy. Also, they engaged the audience by asking the meanings of indigenous khowar words from the audience. The students of grade 12 Humera Rahim and AtshanMehvar hosted the program.
