KURAGH: To commemorate the defence day, a program was held at the atrium of the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Kuragh, where the students manifested their love and devotion for the mother-land, and expressed their unconditional reverence and paid homage to the Ghazis and Martyrs who offered their lives for safety of the country.
Starting with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and Na’t Sharif, students presented various items to express their pride in the bravery, courage, honesty, sincerity and loyalty of the soldiers of various forces who reacted to the sudden attack of the enemy and earned honor for the land, by being either Shaheed or Ghazi.
There was also multimedia presentation which shared detailed information about those who earned Nishan-e-Haider.
Patriotic songs, by grade 9 students, were also part of the program. Besides, students also shared valuable information about causes of the war and its impacts, by role-play. There was a parody by which pupils depicted the life of a soldier who sacrifices every joy and comfort of life including parents, spouse and children in order to ensure the protection and defense of the country.
In the end of the program the Principal Ms Sultana Burhanuddin was called upon the stage to shed light on the significance of the Day. In her speech she appreciated the efforts of the students in organizing such a grand program as this. She mentioned the sacrifice given by the Pak-Army for the country, and said that this day teaches us lesson of honesty, sincerity and hard work, care for others and struggle for achieving the goals set for the progress of the country. We should not take this country and this comfortable life for granted: we are enjoying these blessings because of the sacrifices of our forefathers. Therefore we should walk on their step and fulfill the responsibilities which fall on our shoulders. We should prove ourselves to be assets, not liabilities. We will do this only if we equip ourselves with useful knowledge, experience and skills.
Thus the program ended with the cry of joy “Pakistan Zindabad!”
These programs revive the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice in the hearts of the youth.
O Martyrs in the Right Way! O Models of Loyalty! The Breezes of the Homeland say Salam to You.
