    Bar Association election held, Khursheed Hussain Mughal re elected President Bar

    CHITRAL: In a rare feat of concurrence between the lawyers representing the two arch rival political parties PTI and PML-N swept the elections of district bar association here on Friday.

    Khurshid Hussain Mughal advocate of PML-N elected as president of the lawyer’s body while Sirajuddin Rabbani advocate and Nabaik Sharakat Kalash of PTI as vice-president and general secretary respectively.

    The other office-bearers included Arsalan Ahmed finance secretary, Faisal Kamal information secretary and Jamshed Ahmed Library secretary.

    The unions of the two lawyers of the two major political parties reportedly unnerved the lawyers of other political parties belonging to PPP, JI, APML and ANP who did not contest election leading to the unopposed election of the nominees of the two parties.

    Awareness walk held on World Consumer Rights Day

    CHITRAL: An awareness walk was held here on Friday by the civil society in connection with World Consumer Rights Day which emanated from Pologround and terminated in New Bazaar.

    The assistant director Riaz Ahmed of Consumers Protection Council told the gathering that celebration of the day meant to sensitize and inspire the consumers to know their rights and how to gain them.

    He said that due to the lack of knowledge and information, the consumers were generally unaware of their rights and were subjected to worst type of exploitation and were fleeced by the traders and the organizations providing services.

    He said that consumer court and consumers protection council had been set up in Chitral but very few people resorted to them to redress their grievances.

    The participants of the walk were carrying placards inscribed information about the consumer rights while pamphlets were distributed on this occasion to guide the consumers about the organizations helping them.

    Councillors asked KP government to initiate inquiry against VC Nazim for misappropriate of fund

    CHITRAL: The councilors of neighborhood council Chitral-I Pir Karam Elahi, Fida Ahmed, Abdul Hameed, Karimullah, Buzurg Bibi and Fatima Surayya have asked the provincial government to initiate inquiry against their neighborhood naizm who allegedly misappropriated the development fund of the council amounting to Rs. 1. 7 million.

    While protesting in front of Chitral Press Club, they said that the nazim Maulana Mufti Zameer Ahmed has never convened the meeting of the council during the last three years and is totally neglecting the councilors who had been elected by the people.

    They said that the nazim told them point-blank that if was totally his prerogative and authority to consume the development funds of the council and he was not supposed to divulge the details of the expenses before them.

    They alleged that the nazim has established the office of the council outside the territorial jurisdiction of the council at an exorbitant rate of rent while the local people including the women had to hire taxi to get to the office  to meet the nazim.

    They further alleged that when the Pakistan Baitul Maal asked for the names of persons entitled for stipend, the nazim forwarded the names of his relatives who were millionaires and leading affluent life while the poor and the needy were neglected altogether.

    One person die in village koh

    CHITRAL: A person died instantly in Prayeet village in Koh union council after falling from a hillock where he had climbed to collect firewood.

    The local police identified the person as Syed Nadir Shah who was in his 60s who breathed his last before being shifted to the hospital.
