CHITRAL: MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikharud Din has said that Financial arrangements have been completed for the 200 MW Hydro Power Cum Irrigation Channel of Athak. In a follow up between Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin and DG FWO General Afzal on 7th May 2018 the latter informed Chitral Times that since FWO has arranged finances through Chinese Banks, General Afzal will visit Chitral after Eid and if all goes well work will start on the mega project between Sept and Oct 2018 inshallah.
It may be recalled that during Kohst visit in Nov 2015 after installatiom by C&W of the steel bridge that was provided by DG FWO General Afzal MNA Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin had informed people of Mulkhow and Kosht area that FWO will also construct the 200 MW cum Irrigatuon project at ATAHK.
Between 10 to 14th August 2015 Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin had visited China with a Pakistani delegation that included DG FWO General Afzal, Federal Minister for Planning Develoment & Reforms Ch Ahsan Iqbal, Senator Mushahid Hussain who’s is also Chairman of Joint Standing Committe of National Assembly & Senate for CPEC.
During the China visit Shahzada Iftikhar had suggested to General Afzal to bring FWOs investments into Chitrals untapped Hydro Power and Mining potentials. General Afzal had agreed and had asked MNA Chitral to arrange meeting with KPK Govt Officials.
Shahzada Iftikhar had contacted both the then CEO PEDO Akbar Ayub Khan as well as as KPK Minister Energy & Power Atif Khan in September and a meeting was finally arranged with CM KPK.
MNA said It took two years for an agreement between KPK Govt and FWO where FWO took responsibility to arrange FINANCING through Chinese Banks. This project is a self financed project arranged soley by FWO.
He said Chinese are providing Rs 55 billion to FWO for the 200 MW Hydro Power project and it’s irrigation component is being financed by Asian Development Bank.
He also said that Big projects like these many years for arranging of finances before start of work. The hard part of FINANCING has been arrested and the project is expected to be completed in a few years and once materialized will usher in a new era of prosperity for the water scarce areas between Kosht and Madak inshallah
