Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan directs the Deputy Commissioners to remain on high alert in recent rains and snowfall

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has directed the Deputy Commissioner Upper Dir to immediately visit the family affected in an incident of roof collapse due to recent snowfall in Dogdara area and extend all out support to the affected family. He has also directed the Deputy Commissioners of all districts and rescue agencies of the province to remain on high alert in view of the recent rains and snowfall, and to provide timely assistance to the affected families and deal with any emergency situation due and snowfall. The Chief Minister has further directed all the districts administration to take all necessary steps to re-open the roads closed for traffic due to snowfall and landslides.
He has specially directed all the deputy commissioners to shift homeless people to shelter homes and other government buildings in their respective districts and ensure all necessary arrangements for their accommodation and food adding that it must be ensured that no one sleeps outdoors during this cold winter season.
In a statement issued here on Saturday regarding tye Dogdara, Upper Dir incident, Mahmood Khan has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of five people, including a mother and children, who died due to roof collapse in recent snowfall in Dogdara area of Upper Dir. He has expressed grief over the incident and extended his condolences to bereaved family and said that the provincial government shared the grief of the bereaved family and affected family would not be left alone and every possible help would be given to them.
The Chief Minister also expressed grief over the loss of life and property in other districts of the province as a result of various incidents due to rains and snowfall and expressed sympathy and condolences to the affected families.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has directed the Commissioner Hazara Division to closely monitor the overall situation emerging due to heavy snowfall in Galyat and surrounding areas and to put in place all the required arrangements to effectively deal with any emergency situation. The Chief Minister has further directed to keep district administration and rescue agencies on high alert in the area and to take necessary action to rescue the stranded tourists in surroundings of Galyat including Murree. The Chief Minister on Saturday telephonically directed the Commissioner Hazara that the situation in Galyat, Murree and surrounding areas should be closely monitored round the clock and he (the Chief Minister) be kept updated about the latest situation.
He further directed the Commissioner to extend all possible assistance to the Rawalpindi administration for the rescue of the stranded tourists in Murree and to establish close liaison with the Rawalpindi administration for rescue and relief operations adding that all tourists stranded in these tourist spots should be shifted to hotels and other safe places.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister in a statement issued here regarding the snowfall situation in Galyat said that, he was himself monitoring the situation in Galyat and surrounding areas, and no unpleasant incident related to tourists has taken place in Galyat. He said that the district administration, including the Galyat Development Authority and Rescue 1122, have been placed on high alert to deal with any situation there. The Chief Minister said that the concerned district administration, Galyat Development Authority and Rescue 1122 are engaged in operations with all manpower and machinery to remove snow from the roads, rescue vehicles stuck in the snow and evacuate tourists to safer places.
