Old house in Pakistan- By: Mahnoor Habib
Old home is basically the residence where the elderly lived and cared for when they were unable to take care of themselves in their own homes in old age but it is a curse or boon. I have thought about it so deeply, and based on all my observations, as a Muslim, I have come to the conclusion that it is a curse for us, our Islamic society and our new generation, because they will also perform their respective duties to see us.
I am going to share my little experience with you.
Once invite to an old house, I met to an old man, who was not talking to any one
I ask him to say something about his family. He replied, Do you know that what is family?
I was shocked and said, yes I knew the meaning of family, a place where we live without family parents, brother, sisters, children, wife etc.
He said, No, it’s not a family you told me about relatives and relatives are not a family.
A family is shaped by a good relationships of people, who care about you, who went to spend time with you who loved you who concerned with you ,who will never want to see you in pain. The family is the power of man
He said this old house full fill my all needs but not my empty heard.
Then I asked him, who left you here ?
He said my son left me here for 8 years ago, He said me ,Do you want to know why he left me? I said yes; He left me only because I was a patient of asthma and heart
When my son was leaving me here , he didn’t hug, and some like this he didn’t allow me touch my grandson
He said me please don’t touch us , if we hug you ,we also got I’ll , because you germ effect us .
I was dead at that time when he said this
Now ,I am a live bone; This old house protect me but I didn’t feel safe here.
It pay us all medical attention , but not comfortness, there is constant companion ships, but not a loving understanding. He said, Now I am in this stage, but in future my son will be in this stage. He has dead for me because I am dead for him, I was to say this please don’t this with your because in old age , you are the only because In old age , you are the only hope for them, the old parents are just like a baby ,who want care from your people not from who people who just cared them from money . They want love , your time ,your soft hands toward them please love them ,care them and Allah SWT also says in the Holy Quran,
“And your God says that do not worship any other except him and deference your parents, if any one or both of them go to old age in front of you, do not rebuked on them and talked with them respectably” (Surah ban-e-Israel ayah 23)
In this verse, Allah talks about respect for parents and care for them, but our new generation is so disobedient that they send their elderly parents into the home of the elderly. In that old house, our respected parents are still out of touch with society. They live in those houses day and night, completely separated from society. They cannot express opinions on social affairs and problems, and cannot participate in any affairs. We continue to deprive them of the right to engage in all these activities and social affairs, and become a part of them that make them useless to the entire society, which is a curse to our society.
Please don’t focus on the world, just pay a little attention to your consummation because world is deadlier.
