    An important meeting on “Gandhara Valley City,”  held

    PESHAWAR: As an important development towards the implementation of the largest residential project of the province “Gandhara Valley City,” acquisition of land has been advertised under land sharing formula whereas consultant has also been hired for the master planning of the project. Master plan of the project would be prepared within the next six months after which physical work would be initiated on this mega project. The proposed Gandhara Valley City is being established on more than over one lac kanal of barren land situated at the junction of Peshawar and Nowshehra. The project would have all state of the art civic facilities including educational, medical, commercial and recreational facilities. A Media Enclave covering 1132 canal of land would also be established in the proposed Gandhara City for the Journalists Community of Peshawar.

    This was told in a meeting regarding the Gandhara Valley City held here on Tuesday with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair. The meeting was briefed about various aspects of the project with special focus on the mechanism for acquisition of land for the project. Provincial Minister Ishtiaq Urmar, Kamran Bangash, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Local Government Mia Shakeel Ahmad, Secretary Information Arshid Khan, Director General Peshawar Development Authority Ammara Amir, President Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz, Senior Journalist Arshad Aziz Malik and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

    The meeting was informed that Project Management Unit is being established to ensure physical progress on the project without any delay and recruitment process against key posts including project manager would be started soon. Briefing about the categories of plots in the proposed Gandhara Valley City, the forum was informed that Peshawar Development Authority’s Board has already approved a formula in this regard under which 2% of the total residential area would consist of 04 kanal plots, 04% would consist of 02 kanal plots, 30% one kanal plots, 30% ten marla plots, 17% seven marla plots and 16% would consist of five marla plots.

    The forum decided in principle to issue provisional allotment letters of plots to the journalists of Peshawar Press Club in the media enclave, and constituted a committee consisting of president Peshawar Press Club and other relevant authorities to devise a mechanism for the purpose. The committee would present final recommendations proposals for the approval of provincial cabinet in this regard.

    The chief minister has termed the proposed Gandhara Valley City as a flagship project of the provincial government and said that the government wanted to implement this project in the possible minimum time for which all the relevant departments and entities would have to fulfill their responsibilities well in time. He directed the quarters concerned that cent percent transparency be ensured in the acquisition of land for the project further directing to immediately complete the establishment of project management unit adding that professionals from the market should be recruited for the Project Management Unit. On the occasion, President Peshawar Press Club M Riaz on behalf of journalist community thanked the chief minister on his keen interest regarding establishing media enclave in the Gandhara Valley City.
