Yet another Spaniard hunts kashmir markhor in Chitral

CHITRAL: During the current week, another Spaniard hunted a kashmir markhor near Bokhutuli village in Toshi-Shasha conservancy on Garam Chashma Road for which he had obtained a trophy hunting permit at the cost of Rs. 78 million to the wildlife department.
A villager of Bokhtuli told Dawn that the hunter David Nogareda did not face any difficulty in finding a suitable markhor of trophy size as the pasture is thickly packed with snow which brought the animals to the lower altitude.
He said that the local community members extended help to the hunter in the mission who hunted the wild goat from a close range with the help of his automatic rifle while the measure of its horn was found to be 44 inches.
He said that the local community were highly delighted over the trophy hunting in their pasture after a long gap of many years while they had been active in conservation of the wild goats with the result that now the conservancy had hundreds of trophy size markhors.
It is to be recalled that 80 percent of the permit fee is paid to the local community which they spent for their collective well-being through the village conservation committee.
