Wildlife Deptt issues regulations regarding hunting of Russian doves in KP

PESHAWAR (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment, and Wildlife has issued regulations regarding the hunting of Russian doves to ensure the conservation of biodiversity and effective enforcement of the law.

According to the department spokesperson, this step has been taken under the powers granted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015, with the aim of preserving natural beauty and ensuring sustainable management of bird populations.

According to the issued notification, during the year 2025–26, hunting of Russian doves will only be permitted on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This facility will be available only to individuals who hold a valid small game shooting license.

These regulations have come into immediate effect and will remain in force until May 31, 2026. The statement clearly mentions that strict legal action will be taken against those who hunt outside the designated days.

A maximum limit of eight birds per hunter per day has been set. Exceeding this limit will result in a fine of Rs. 5,000 per bird, along with legal action.

Hunting before sunrise and after sunset is completely prohibited. Wildlife department teams will continuously monitor bird populations, and hunting may be immediately banned if necessary.

The department has appealed to the public, especially hunters, to ensure compliance with the laws and support the government in conserving natural resources. Wildlife not only ensures ecological balance but is also a valuable trust for future generations. Responsible behavior is the only way to safeguard this trust.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking serious steps for environmental protection, including forest development, wildlife conservation, and comprehensive strategies to address climate change impacts.

These regulations for hunting Russian doves are part of the same effort, promoting sustainable development and a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
