    Why SUICIDE???…………Aamer Zeb Sultan

No one kills themselves in suicide.

It’s someone else inside of them.

They’re the ones who control the razor.

They pull the rope over your neck.

    They pull the trigger,

    And they swallow the pills.

    They write your goodbye letter,

    Because in the end,

The person who dies isn’t you.

    .

In the journey to figure out the root causes of suicide, we approached various youth of the region who are actively contributing to a better version of the area. Moreover, the experiences of a victim are also been narrated to reveal the inner story of the scenario.

Jabir, a person known for his blogs and poems, has highlighted the problems of our society through his masterpieces. He has always been trying to change the negative perceptions of the society and has compelled people through his heart touching poems. Talking about the matter of suicide, he said, “It is a big concern of today’s era and we must discourage people to take this move. Lack of support in times of crisis pushes the victim into solitude which deepens over time and ultimately results in suicide”.

Another great figure of the area, Mr. Sultan Salah also shared his concerns about this problem. He is the founder of an organization, HOLD, which bridges the diverse people of the area and work for altering their weaknesses. He said, “Lack of Counseling is the key factor in this regard, and we are working tirelessly to organize one soon.”

“Various factors contribute to committing suicide. A single problem or event cannot be blamed. Of the various causes, I see the lack of love and knowledge as the leading ones”, were the words of Mr. Zakir. He is a one-man army, bestowed with a clean heart, and always ready to do something worthy of the area.

A rising star of Upper Chitral, Mr. Khalid Mehmood is a political figure in the area. He is involved in various life-changing activities for many years and through his blogs, poems, and motivational speeches, he has led many youths to the better version of themselves. According to him, “The Communication gap is to be blamed for suicides. It leads through negative thoughts to suicidal ones and then one more life pops up.”

Nusrat Jahan; an adorable person, given privilege for her critical thinking, evaluated the problem and uttered, “Dependency and lack of knowledge are the key factors as these divert the minds towards suicidal thoughts”.

In the approach of un-puzzling the problem, we come to figure out that,

“This problem is like cutting an onion: lots of layers and you will cry the whole time”.

There are still many layers to be revealed, including the experiences of the victim who had escaped from the mouth of suicide, which we will continue in the next article of the series.
