CHITRAL: The villages of upper Chitral and Lowari have received the first snowfall of the season causing the abrupt fall of temperature thereby sending cold waves across the valley of Chitral after the recent scattered rains in different parts of the district.
The Lowari Pass (10230 ft) in the south and Shandur Pass (12200 ft) in the North-East connecting the district with the rest of the country also received snow of lower thickness which disturbed the flow of vehicular traffic.
The apple fruits trees in the northernmost villages Rech, Khot, Ujnu, Melp, Terich, Yarkhoon and the valley of Karimabad were affected by the snow which were yet to be harvested.
The white strips of snow have adorned the mountain peaks of mountains of Hindu Kush range and can be seen from any part of the valley which gave a dazzling and eye-catching view
The people were seen wearing woolies to save themselves from the cold waves radiated from the mountain peaks covered with fresh snow of the season.
