Chitral Times Report
CHITRAL: The University of Chitral achieves a milestone in the field of research by publishing its first peer-reviewed research journal with the title of “The Journal of Religious Studies” in which fifty-five renowned Academicians, professors and research scholars from Pakistan, England, Netherlands, Malaysia and Jordan have contributed their research findings. According to the Project Director of the University of Chitral Prof. Dr. Badshah Munir Bukhari the fundamental aim of the Journal is to promote interfaith harmony, nourish contemporary awareness in religious studies to counter the stereotyped thinking process, and to create an independent, fair and conducive atmosphere for fruitful discussion on contemporary religio-academic issues, says the press release issued by the PRO of the University. It is foreseen that the Journal of Religious Studies will enrich the practical, social, economic and moral consciousness and impart a lesson of religious tolerance to humanity, so a peaceful global society based on pluralism and harmonious co-existence is promoted, the press release maintains.
Dr. Zia ul Haq, the editor of the Journal confirmed that the publication of the journal is being greatly acknowledged in national and international academic circles. He added that the research papers have been selected purely on merit basis and assistance for the selection was sought from distinguished national and international academicians. The published articles not only contain scholarly, creative and technical features but also represent current situation and happenings apart from fulfilling the needs of the contemporary society. According to the Press Release the editorial management received scores of research papers from national and international Universities as soon as the approval for publication of the Journal went through but only twenty-eight research papers were selected for the first two issues of the journal after editorial consultation and careful scrutiny in accordance with the set-standards of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan followed by blind-peer review and plagiarism checking process through the latest version of Turnitin software. Since the Journal of Religious Studies is an open access source, the research papers have been uploaded on the Journal Website for the sole purpose of common utility. The research papers can be downloaded free of cost.
It is worth-mentioning that the Journal of Religious studies is the only national publication which is linked to the other international digital networks for the purpose of easy access, citation and referencing. The research contents issued under the Creative Commons Attribution (4.0), an International Copyright License.
The University of Chitral will soon further add to the periodicals in different other disciplines which are currently undergoing editing processes and hopefully come out in few weeks.
