ISLAMABAD: The ‘Training Manual’ on “Strategic Communication & Media Engagement” developed by Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC) a project of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, was formally presented to the DG PPSA Mrs. Farah Hamid Khan by Mian Shabbir Anwer CEO, PPC at the beginning of two-days ‘Training Workshop” organized by PPC at PPSA, Peshawar. The training manual has been designed to help train senior government officials of all discipline on how to interact and build relations with media during any crises situation. The training module elaborated in the training manual has been prepared with the purpose that all the government training institutes in the long-run are able to conduct the Media Engagement trainings at their own. While addressing the participants, Mian Shabbir Anwer CEO PPC mentioned that PPC was tasked to design and conduct Training Course on “Strategic Communication and Media Engagement in Crisis Situation”, since it was considered that “Media Engagement” is an important & integral component which needs to be included in the syllabus of all the government training institutes. The training course on the subject would help to prepare the government officials in tackling any sort of crises situation on the communication front. The premise and purpose of this course he added, is of great significance for the Government Officials in developing their skills to appropriately manage the communication mechanism during any crisis situation particularly that emerging out of violent extremism.” The DG PPSA appreciated the efforts of PPC and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in developing the training manual and conducting the training. She ensured to include and integrate the said training course within the PPSA training syllabus. It may be mentioned that the first copy of the training manual was launched at the National Management College (NMC) Lahore. The training manual will subsequently be delivered to all the government training institutes for plausibly conducting the training at their own in future under the observation of the officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It may not be out of place to add that till date, PPC has successfully conducted over 30 training workshops on the subject at PPSA, NMC (Staff College), NIMs (NIPA), NPA (National Police Academy), ISA (Information Service Academy), PIPS (Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Studies) and Police College Sihala.
