Peshawar:Secretary Health, Dr. FarooqJameel has said that under the Sehat Sahulat Program of KP government, ensuring free and quality healthcare servicesto all poor people of the province and merged districts was top priority of the government, adding that the program will be made more effective and accessible to benefit the poor families.
He was addressing a meeting held here at health secretariat Peshawar, participating by health department HSRU chief Shahid Younis, social health protection initiative Director, Dr. Riaz Tanoli, Dr. Ijaz, Dr. Amir, representatives of German based KFW Ms. Stephanie Peter, Mr. Mathias and representatives of state life insurance corporation of Pakistan. During the meeting, it was told that KFW was supporting free treatment initiative in four districts of the province including Mardan, Malakand, Chitral and Kohat and it will continue to support the program where so far 95000 households had been registered in these four districts, who were receiving free treatment in different hospitals.
Addressing the meeting, secretary health Dr. Farooq Jameel told that Health Minister KP Dr.Hisham Inamullah Khan was taking keen interest in the program, adding that in next phase under Insaf Card program they will cover more families. Dr. Farooq said government will ensure to provide Sehat Insaf card to all poor families of the province and merged districts.
He said that most of the families can’t afford the cost of healthcare especially in private hospitals, thus its government first priority to ensure them free and quality treatment.
