ISLAMABAD: The Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood chaired a meeting with the Board of Directors of Pakistan Steel Mills, Karachi. Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Asif, Mr. Ashique Ali, Mr. Aamir Allawala, Mr. Munir K. bana and Mr, Asif Jabbar Khan attended the meeting along with Capt. (Retd.) Sher Alam Mehsud, Additional Secretary Ministry of Industries & production, Mr. Imran Ullah Khan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance. The Adviser was briefed on the issues being faced by PSM and the progress made regarding its revival. The Adviser urged the need to revive Pakistan Steel Mills as the national exchequer has already faced huge losses due to the condition of PSM and a serious effort is required to ensure that PSM operates as an efficient and fruitful organization. He stressed upon the need to operate through a transparent process that would encourage quality competition and would ensure that the most viable option is utilized for revival of PSM. The Adviser again stressed upon the fact that he is willing to welcome everyone in this effort and encouraged all stake holders to provide options in the greater national interest. He reiterated that this will be a transparent and inclusive process. The Adviser enquired about the issues being faced by the workforce of PSM regarding salaries and the uncertainty surrounding the revival of PSM. He directed the BoD to ensure that the issues of PSM employees are resolved in a timely manner and the labour force is utilized efficiently in the benefit of PSM.
