Karimabad shingle track was constructed from Hassanabad – Hinjil – Breshgram and Susum (Lower Chitral) on self help basis in 1982. Due to paucity of resources and absence of technical expertise, erstwhile foot track in the mountainous terrain was upgraded to jeepable track. Conversely existing foot track gradients remain emplaced, obviously its alignment was not easy going for vehicles. A common man travelling on this track would realize the need of realigning the track amidst danger and difficulty albeit commending their predecessors for constructing jeepable track with their shovel and picks while rebuking public sector ignorance.
After four decades, smear of relief from unfriendly climbing grades was homed on with high hopes and deep spirit wherein sufficient fund have been allocated for Karimabad road. Ironically the said fund is spent on widening of road on the existing location without entailing realignment to address the climbing grades. Though widening will give interim relief and road extent will physically squeeze to barely serviceable width in due course of time due peculiar nature of terrain. Moreover present width of road is adequately serving the desired purpose in view of type and flow of traffic. Our main concerns are climbing grades which need to be rectified at priority; everything else is secondary requirement. We request our political leadership and concerned authority to respect the public opinion and meet end user demand.
