PTCL telephone customers complained inordinate delay in recovery of land lines

    By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: The customers of telephone in Chitral town have complained inordinate delay in the recovery of the telephone lines which developed any fault leading to discontinuation of service.

Shahriyar Baig, a phone customer said that the field staff did not move to his workplace to mend the telephone line despite repeated requests although the distance from  the PTCL office was hardly half a kilometer.

He said that online complaint was also lodged with 1218 about the breakdown but it also did not work and on contact it was repeated each time that the service will be restored shortly and all it proved a futile practice because his phone line remained disconnected as before.

Mr. Baig said that with the privatization of the PTCL has yet to benefit the customers in Chitral where they are totally at the mercy of the staff and the tall claims of the company to improve the standard of services is only a farce as no difference in the attitude is discerned.

He said that a large number of customers have got their telephone lines permanently disconnected due to the rude behavior of the PTCL staff as they grew weary of waiting for weeks for the company’s staff to come and reinstate their phone lines.

Noor Afzal Khan, a resident of the Seen Lusht village of the town said that the customers of PTCL are waiting for the last two years for the restoration of their telephone lines which had developed fault during the construction of Garam Chashma road.

Repeated efforts to contact the assistant business manager (formerly called SDO)  of PTCL to get his version  failed as each time it was told that he was out from the office.
