    Provincial Task Force on Covid-19 decides to close schools in 9 districts of the province

    PESHAWAR: Provincial Task Force on Covid-19 has decided to close schools in 9 districts of the province including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Malakand, Swat and Dir Lower due to increasing number of positive cases of Corona. It has been further decided to close schools in other districts as well where positivity ratio of corona cases increases upto 5 percent.

     

    A meeting of Provincial Task Force was held here on Tuesday with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair to review overall Corona situation in the province, steps taken by the government to contain the spread of pandemic and arrangements put in place to deal with corona patients. Besides, Provincial Cabinet members Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Shahram Tarakai, Shaukat Yousafzai and Kamran Bangash, Corps. Commander Peshawar Lieutenant Gen. Nauman Mahmood, Chief Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz, Inspector General of Police Dr. Sana Ullah Abbasi, administrative secretaries and other civil and military high ups attended the meeting. The Task Force meeting also decided to constitute a committee comprising cabinet members Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Shaukat Yousafzai and Kamran Bangash to consult representatives of business community and submit proposals regarding the possible closure of markets in order to contain the outbreak of pandemic. The forum was told that, positivity ratio Corona cases were less than one percent in southern parts of the province.

     

    The Task Force conditionally allowed holding of Derajat Festival and jeep rally in Di Khan district and directed strictly implement Covid SOPs during the festival and instructions issued by the government in his regard. However, The task force decided that in case of non compliance of SOPs all the activities of festival will be cancelled. The chief minister, on this occasion, directed the quarters concerned to ensure implementation of Sops in letter and spirit in those areas where positivity ratio of corona cases is on rise.

     

    The Chief Minister while expressing his concern on the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the province, appealed to the general public to strictly comply with precautionary measures and SoPs issued by the government in order to prevent the possible outbreak of the pandemic. He has also urged upon the business community to cooperate with government and administration with regard to the implementation of Corona SoPs in markets and other business points.
