    Federal cabinet approved signing different MoUs

    ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired a meeting of the Federal Cabinet at Prime Minister’s Office today. The Cabinet approved signing of the MoU between National Library of Pakistan and National Library of Cuba ‘Jose Marti’ for strengthening of mutual cooperation between the two libraries of Pakistan and Cuba. The Cabinet also approved signing of Tripartite MoU between National Transport Research Center, Pakistan and China Highway & Transportation Society & Second Highway Consultants Co. Ltd., China to conduct study on “International Transport Technology Standards and Specification Systems, especially in those countries along the ‘Belt and Road’ routes. The Cabinet ratified the decisions taken by Cabinet Committee for Disposal of legislative Cases (CCLC) in its meeting held on 04-04-2018 and the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCOP) in its meeting held on 30-03-2018. The Cabinet approved appointment of Lt. Gen. Sadiq Ali as Chairman Pakistan Ordnance of Factories Board (POFB). Approval was accorded to Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development to grant licenses to 54 Overseas Employment Promoters, as recommended by Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE). Appointment of Dr. Khawar Siddiquie Khokhar as Director General National Institute of Electronics (NIE), Islamabad was approved.

    PM Chairs Meeting of ECC Islamabad: April 12, 2018

    Meanwhile Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today chaired a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) at Prime Minister Office. The ECC approved a proposal for allowing Sui Southern Gas Company Limited to reallocate an amount of Rs. 14.8 billion from RLNG-II pipeline project to LPG Air Mix Projects for their expeditious completion and to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to household, industry etc. The ECC directed SSGCL to expand setting up of air mix plants in every district of the country. The ECC approved a proposal for grant of 4-years extension in Kandra Development and Production Lease. The decision was taken after taking into account various impediments which have hindered the production of recoverable reserves from Kandra gas field and setting up of 120 MW power plant by M/s Kandra Power Company Ltd (a subsidiary of M/s Pakistan Exploration (Pvt.) Ltd.). The ECC also considered the issue of power subsidy for the industrial sector and the payment of Industrial Subsidy Package claims. It was decided to constitute a committee to analyze impact and sustainability of the package. Considering a request from Ministry of Industries and Production for approval of one-time grant to Pakistan Machine Tool Factory (PMTF) for payment of dues owed to its retired employees, the ECC approved a grant of Rs. 300 million in the first instalment.
