CHITRAL: The local people have demand ban on duck shooting hobby being carried out across the length and breadth of Chitral fearing that they may be potential carrier of corona virus as most of them flew from the Chinese territory.
They said that although most of the migratory ducks entered the Indus flyway starting in Baroghil flying from Siberia but a fraction of them also entered the area from other countries as well including China.
They said that the hunting of ducks is one of the popular pastimes in vogue throughout the valley from Arandu to Baroghil and thousands of the birds are hunted on daily basis whose season last till the end of March.
When the deputy commissioner Chitral Naveed Ahmed was contacted, he said that he will look into the matter to impose ban on it exercising his powers under section 144 of CrPC while he cannot take any action on his own.
Meanwhile, Chitral DC has imposed ban on all public gatherings for fifteen days acting upon the decision of the Provincial Cabinet as proactive measure against the spread of corona virus.
All the tests and interviews including the driving tests scheduled for 18th March in the office of DC have also been postponed for indefinite period.
