CHITRAL: Ten passengers aboard a jeep escaped a major disaster by a hair’s breadth here on Saturday in Shahi Das village of Laspur valley when a huge mass of snow avalanche sliding from the hillock was to hit the vehicle when they disembarked from it and fled to save their lives.
Shahid Wali of Brok village, one of the passengers, told Chitral Times that the vehicle got jammed in the slippery surface when they watched the big mass sliding downward swiftly and started running and narrowly escaped from being hit.
He said that had the avalanche hit the vehicle, all the passengers would have been buried alive under its debris.
He said that the jeep was later on, recovered from the debris by the personnel of Chitral Scouts, and Chitral Police and the locals after hectic efforts of many hours.
He said that all the passengers were coming Peshawar and had been quarantined in Booni two weeks ago and after having been cleared of any symptom of COVID-19 were going to their village when the incident happened.
