PAKISTAN “A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN”………Written by Mir Seema Aman

From grade I we have taught a lesson that Pakistan is our country and we love Pakistan. Well do you know about patriotism? Let me explain the meaning of Patriotism. Patriotism is define as love for one’s motherland & devotion to one’s country and patriot is define as the person who firmly supports his country &is willing to fight against its enemies & opponents according to the dictionary. But loving your homeland does not mean to just love it & take care of it. It also means to work for its betterment & to put its success before your own.

A true patriot will do anything for the sake of his country. He is always willing to die for his country. On 14th August, almost every one of us wears green & white clothes with different accessories. We decorate our houses & streets with lots of flags and play national songs on full volume but is this really patriotism?? Does this makes any sense of being patriot?? Does our nation be proud of having such kind of patriots like us?? Does we work honestly for our country’s sake?? No? Why??
Okay leave it. Let’s discuss some of the problems found in Pakistan. What about pollution? We throw trash on the streets & then wish that Pakistan was as clean as any place in abroad, we all break traffic signals , we all cheat in the exams & test thinking it is okay if we don’t get caught .

Aren’t we all guilty of throwing a wrapper out of the windows of our cars & homes and claiming there’s already so much trash outside, a little more won’t harm the environment. It is so painful truth that in our society the extent people have become educated but they are still illiterate as they were the day they born. Their thinking, their words, their habits, their mind everything shows that they are illiterate!! And are also called as “parhylikhhyjaahil”
It is so dejected that when we go to other countries we follow their rules but we don’t follow the same rules here in Pakistan like waiting for our turn, standing in a que& parking only in parking zones..

Well now move on next issue, we all know that we’re MUSLIMS & our religion is ISLAM and the most important thing that we’re all humans. Then why we ask someone what their caste is? And when they tell you , you start listing out all the bad things you heard people say about the ‘choudary’ or ‘abbasi’ or ‘Kiani’ caste or whatever caste it is. Or why we don’t like being near someone just because they are Sun’ni or Sheya or if they are Hindu or Cristian . It doesn’t matter at all because we’re all humans. We feel, we hurt, we cry. It doesn’t help if people start discriminating between us because of who our forefathers were or what the color of our skin is. We all are humans!!

Respect is the virtue taught by every religion. Without giving respect, you cannot live an honorable life..
Think for a moment.. Not only these problems, there are lots of problems that are needed to be focused. A single person can bring a difference. That single person can be you!

As a Pakistani, I would like to request that please wake up! You think that someone from the neighborhood will come & save us from this misery. In past, our great leaders like Quaid & Iqbal fought for the freedom of muslims.. But now , who is going to save us?? Some super hero?? Or some fairy god mother? No ! there is nothing like that. We have to take stand and make it happen, make this world a better place to live in, make our world a better place, that is PAKISTAN..!
