CHITRAL: The pictures and video of filling the potholes and ditches in Drosh-Chitral Road with soil by National Highway Authority (NHA) has gone viral in Chitral where people sardonically called it ‘an ultra modern and sophisticated technology of road engineering’.
The local residents have been criticizing the NHA for the dilapidating Drosh-Chitral road due to its total negligence for the past five years after its federalization and have never carried out repair work.
They lamented that in the absence of repair and maintenance, the road is dotted by innumerable potholes which restricted the speed of vehicles and made the ride bumpy and highly troublesome leading to double the duration of travel.
With the nearing of the completion of Lowari tunnel project, the road from Drosh town to Chew Bridge in Chitral city had been federalized before which it was looked after by communication and works department.
The NHA has maintenance office in Chitral whose nearest office is situated in Batkhela with the rest that the condition of the roads change from bad to worst with each passing day reducing to ruins.
