NCEG in task force formed by Mines & Minerals Department to strengthen academia linkages
PESHAWAR (APP): Secretary Higher Education Department, Dr. Muhammad Israr and Director of National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), Peshawar Professor Dr. Liaqat Ali held meeting aimed at to advance the technical planning of the advisory board formed by KP Govt to support the province’s minerals sector.
Professor Dr. Liaqat Ali, who is a member of this advisory board, is responsible for providing technical support to the Department of Minerals Development.
The meeting focused on the board’s mandate, which includes providing guidance for the establishment of a Minerals Advisory Body and a Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) that will supply crucial technical insights for the proposed Mineral Development Company in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The main agenda included a detailed review of the proposed Terms of Reference, operational structures, mandate, and organogram of the proposed CFC.
The meeting also deliberated on strategies, challenges, and future action plans to strengthen collaboration among research institutions, academia, and the minerals industry.
Secretary Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Israr highlighted the key role of the task force in reinforcing linkages between the government, academia, and industry. He said this meeting was extremely important for improving the performance of institutions that will play a central role in the development of this sector.
Professor Dr. Liaqat Ali reaffirmed NCEG’s commitment to the objectives of the task force. He said our meeting focused on translating the technical guidance of the task force into practical plans for the CFC and the future company.
This is a strong step toward institutionalizing scientific expertise within the province’s mineral development strategy.
This consultation reflects ongoing progress toward effectively utilizing academic expertise in the strategic planning of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s minerals sector.
