CHITRAL: The model trial magistrate court (MTMC) judge Nasir Khan handed a punishment of Rs. 110796 to two women who had assaulted a woman polio worker during the National Immunization Days on 25th March this year in Ayun village of Chitral.
The trial court disposed the case of attack on polio worker in a short span of one month in which one Musharaf Bibi and her daughter Nasima Bibi had beaten the polio worker and lady health worker Shazia Bibi when she entered their home for administering polio drops to the children in the home.
The polio worker had sustained multiple injuries in different parts of her body when she fell into a drain after having been kicked off by Nasima Bibi.
The prosecution proved the allegation before the court while the accused was given a fair chance to prove her innocence which she failed in the presence of circumstantial evidences and the witnesses of the spot.
A part of the fine exacted from the convict will be paid to the injured Shazia Bibi while the convicts will face cases in the case of non-payment of the fine.
The case was first of its nature in the district in which polio workers had been assaulted and injured.
Meanwhile, the former president of district bar association, Sajidullah advocate has said that the public has appreciated the quick dispensation of the case which will also boost the polio workers to carry on their duties without fear.
He said that the litigants have heaved a sigh of relief due to the disposing of the cases on fast track as the cases of even trivial nature used to take more than five years in the past.
