CHITRAL: The meeting of standing committee on water and power in the National Assembly will meet here on Thursday at Koghuzi, the site of the 108- MW Golen Gol hydro power project (GGHP) of WAPDA.
The MNA from Chitral, Shahzada Iftikharuddin told Chitral Times that the meeting will discuss the issues of electrification in the district, to accelerate the pace of work in the grid stations in two different places in Juti Lusht and Drosh.
He said that apart from the Golen Gol Hydro Power Project, the committee will also take up the upgradation work of small hydro power station of WAPDA at Gankorini Singoor near Chitral city for which Rs. 3. 47 billion have been earmarked by the federal government with the assistance of foreign donations.
He said that another agenda of the meeting is to strike out an agreement between PESCO, WAPDA and PEDO (the organization of KP government dealing energy and power) to provide the surplus electricity at GGHP to upper Chitral.
He added that more than 20 thousand consumers of PEDO were without electricity since August 2015 when the Reshun hydro power station run by it was washed away by flash flood.
Mr. Iftikhar said that the meeting will have a great implication on the power projects being executed in the area which are in different phases of completion.
