Matriculation results of Govt schools nullifies PTI”s education reforms claims

PESHAWAR (APP): Despite various reforms and claims of improvement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s education sector, the matric (10th grade) results of the government schools have been dismal, nullifying PTI slogans.

A large number of students in public sector schools have either failed in the BISE exams or passed it in third division.

According to the results documents, only 151 out of 739 students from 29 government schools affiliated with the Peshawar Board passed the matric exams.

The results of government educational institutions in several districts, including Chitral, Mohmand, Khyber, Charsadda, and Peshawar, were highly disappointing. All students at Government Higher Secondary School Bewari, Chitral, failed. None of the 7 students at Government Middle School Begusht, Chitral, passed either.

At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Haryana Payan, Peshawar, all 18 girls failed. At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Daman Afghani, 33 out of 35 girls failed. In a women’s higher secondary school in Rajar, Charsadda, only 2 out of 13 girls passed.

At Government Higher Secondary School Arsoon, Chitral, 5 out of 6 students failed. At Government Higher Secondary School Birm, Chitral, only 1 out of 8 students passed. At Government Middle School Shegdi, Lower Chitral, 5 out of 7 students failed. At Government Higher Secondary School Bang, Chitral, 8 out of 9 students failed.

Peshawar schools also performed poorly in terms of results. At Government Shaheed Saqib Ghani School, 84 out of 102 students failed, with only 18 passing. At Government Higher Secondary School Haji Banda, 13 out of 14 students failed, and at Government Higher Secondary School Mashogagar, only 5 out of 76 students passed.

The primary reason for failure is reported to be students failing in one, two, or three subjects. In many classes, only one or two students managed to pass.

Education experts have termed these statistics alarming and have demanded that the provincial government and the education department take immediate notice.

They have called for urgent measures to identify the causes of this educational decline and to work on improving the situation.
