KP Govt work on tight financial discipline-Azam
PESHAWAR (APP): Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan here Thursday said the Government was working on strick financial discipline and has significantly reduced unnecessary expenditures under austerity policy.
Maximum resources of the Provincial government goes to salaries and pensions, he said while addressing participants of 25th national security workshop under aegies of National Defense University Islamabad.
Chief Secretary KP Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Abid Majeed and Secretary Finance Amir Sultan Tareen were also present.
The Chief Minister said the available resources was being utalized wisely and no overdraft was taken from banks during the period of caretaker Government.
Due to more recruitment in the past, he said the salaries and pensions’ budget of Provincial Departments and public sector universities were increased that caused financial issues.
The Chief Minister said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially merged areas were mostly affected due to security situation of the past four decades that made deep imprints on economy of the province.
He said the province has still problems related to law and order and focuses on resolution of problems of tribal people and their development was required besides fulfillment of the promises made during KP-Fata merger.
He said the province was facing financial problems due to non payment of funds under the head of oil and gas royalty and net hydel profit.
Earlier, the participants were briefed on security situation, financial and administrative affairs and development projects.
