KP CM lays foundation stone of paramedical complex

PESHAWAR (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi formally laid the foundation stone of the multi-storey complex of the Faculty of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences in Hayatabad Phase-V.

The project is being constructed on six kanals of land at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.9 billion. The seven-storey complex, comprising two basements, has been designed with a focus on institutional strengthening and long-term financial sustainability of the institution.

The project aims not only to reinforce the administrative structure of the faculty but also to generate sustainable revenue streams for the institution.

Addressing the ground breaking ceremony of the project, Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi said the project would serve as a sustainable source of income without reliance on external funding and would effectively support academic activities.

He termed it encouraging that public sector institutions are moving towards financial self-sustainability.

He appreciated the faculty’s initiative to launch the project on a self-help basis and emphasized that other institutions and departments should also adopt similar models of self-reliance.

The Chief Minister reiterated that investing in human development remains the top priority of the provincial government, with special focus on health, education and other social sectors to ensure improved public service delivery.

Earlier, the concerned officials, while briefing the Chief Minister on the salient features of the project, told that the proposed complex will house the administration block, Dean’s office, offices of heads of departments, human resources, finance, academic affairs and other related facilities under one roof.

In addition, six rental floors will be constructed for health institutions, diagnostic laboratories, NGOs, banks, medical suppliers and training institutes to ensure a steady flow of financial resources for the faculty.

They further informed that the project also includes a seminar hall equipped with modern audio-visual facilities for academic conferences, medical workshops and professional events, which will also be available for external bookings.

The complex will feature elevators, spacious parking, cafeteria, power backup system, secure access control and other modern amenities, making it a comprehensive and state-of-the-art institutional hub.

According to officials, the project represents a transformative step towards establishing a financially self-sufficient, modern administrative and commercial facility that aligns academic excellence with fiscal responsibility.

Leveraging its prime location and strong rental demand, the faculty is well-positioned to develop a sustainable institutional asset that will serve students, healthcare professionals and the wider community for decades to come.
