KP Cabinet reviews measures about repatriation of illegal foreigners, 1.5mn illegal immigrants repatriated voluntary: Minister
PESHAWAR (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker cabinet with Chief Minister Azam Khan in chair here Friday reviewed various measures about repatriation of illegal foreigners.
The special cabinet meeting was attended by members of the cabinet, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Home and others.
The meeting was briefed about arrangements made of illegal foreigners repatriation and other relevant affairs
The caretaker Chief Minister praised arrangements and facilities provided at holding centres for facilitation of the illegal immigrants and commanded efforts of the district administration, police and other relevant departments in this connection.
He directed for providing best treatment to illegal immigrants on humanitarian basis as well as per traditions and values of the province.
Stressed the need of financial transparency in expenses during repatriation process of illegal foreigners, the Chief Minister directed compilation of all records of all the expenditure and expenses and implementation of set rules and regulations in this regard.
Addressing the press conference about Cabinet decisions, the caretaker Information Minister Feroz Jamal said that repatriation of illegal immigrants was being made through Torkham border in organized manner as per the province’s traditions and values besides respect for humanity.
Women and children were exampted from biometric and facilities provided at transit points while responsibilities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa increased due to arrival of illegal immigrants from other provinces here.
To ensuring better facilities and arrangments, emergency in districts Nowshera, Peshawar and Khyber have been imposed, and Rs119 million approved for Relief Department during Cabinet meeting while the expanses estimates is Rs 1 billion for which federal government has been contacted.
He said about Rs1.5 million illegal foreigners repatriated on voluntary basis besides process of deportation also continued.
Voluntary repatriation is being encouraged, he added.
