Kalash Festival Chomas concludes, RPO calls religious tolerance ideal in Kalash Valley

CHITRAL: The winter Chamos festival concluded in Chitral’s Kalash Valley, in which regional police officer Malakand Sajjad Khan specially participated in the last day’s celebrations. He was dressed in traditional clothes by elders of kalash community .

On this occasion, DC Lower Chitral Anwar Haq, DPO Lower Chitral Nasir Mehmood and other senior officials were also accompanied by the RPO, they saw many events related to the festival and expressed interest in them. Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Minority Affairs Wazir Zada also organized a special function in honor of RPO Malakand in which the elders of the area participated in large numbers and thanked the RPO for coming to the religious festival. RPO speaking on this occasion said that religious tolerance and brotherhood in Kailash Valley is very exemplary, he said that a large number of Kailash women are serving in the police force which is a source of pride for us.

Kailash Community expressed full confidence in Chitral Police, ARPO Malakand also participated in the festival and saw various religious rituals of Kailash tribe. Expressed satisfaction with the facilities. It should be remembered that the thousands of years old religious festival Chomos is celebrated every year in the month of December which starts from 7th December and ends on 22nd December during which many religious rituals are also performed. Strict security arrangements were made by the police while tourist facilitation centers were also established by police to guide and provide facilities to domestic and foreign tourists.
