It is an established fact that corona virus is a pandemic disease which is spreading rapidly throughout the world and it is affecting every walk of life. Its pandemic outbreak is out of control and numbers of victims are increasing day by day. In this result nearly 5.7 million people till in the world have been affected from this disease and 0.35 million died. It is also encouraging that 0.24 million people recovered so for from this virus. By the grace of God in Pakistan neither affecters nor dead toll are so high compare to other countries. For this we are very thankful to Almighty Allah for His blessings. This deadly disease is not only affecting human lives but it also paralyzed the economy of the world. No one can tell exactly how longer it be remained but its precautions to be looked formidable for whole world.
In the meanwhile all the countries in the world including World Health Organization are engaged in developing strategy to overcome corona virus and various precautionary measures have been taken in order to safe human lives. In the same spirit same precautionary measures have also been taken in Pakistan. Like other countries strict lock down was imposed for two months in Pakistan and then after SMART lock down till on progress. During this lockdown all educational institutions, industries, factories and shops excluding medical stores, food shops and vegetable shops remained closed.
Within limited period the government started Tele School Programme for school and college going students. It will be helpful for students learning if we replicate it in our schools and colleges. It will also be helpful in enhancing teachers’ content knowledge and pedagogy. Due to this lock down all the entrepreneurs, labourers and people associated with private sector were affected economically. In this connection with to minimize the economic burden of having low income households the Government of Pakistan assisted Rs.12000 per household under cash transfer programme. Most of the eligible families were provided food items by the government. Meantime decrease in petroleum prices by government is an extra ordinary relief for all the people living in the country. Most NGOs and philanthropists in Pakistan helped needy people in this difficult time. They also helped government by providing medical equipment. It has been observed in many areas people were given cooked foods by them. In the second phase the government is going to pay financial assistance to those, whom became jobless due to corona crises. For this purpose the Government of Pakistan has been succeeded in collecting a huge amount as donations from philanthropists within Pakistan as well as abroad. This indicates how people trust on present government? The government succeeded in fulfilling its responsibility in this crucial time. These are exemplary steps and will be membered forever.
It seems me necessary to mention that EOBI pensioners are also included in having low income households and in spit low income they deserve immediate relief. But it is surprising to listen the proposal regarding increase in EOBI pension was presented for upcoming budget 2020 in Cabinet meeting held in first week of May 2020 was deferred for indefinite time. This might shock all EOBI pensioners, however they will not disappointed. They are expecting still long run enough relief in terms of increase in EOBI pension from government and proposal deferred in the Cabinet will be presented once again for reconsideration and approved unanimously. It will not be an exaggeration to say that the government is the guardian of its all countrymen. The present government practically proved it by paying full attention towards health care and economic conditions of its countrymen during corona crises. Being the guardian the present government will not forget its EOBI pensioners too in this upcoming budget and left no stone in increasing appropriate and reasonable amount in EOBI pension with immediate effect. So during corona crises and after that they will be able to spend their lives honorably.
It must also be noted that still treatment of this disease has not been discovered, however it is agreed by all medical professionals that cleanliness and social distancing are best options to save people from this disease. Being Muslims we are aware from these facts that such types of precedents are already exist in Islamic because it gives the guarantee of complete code of conduct for human beings. Each and every one in the world must take lesson from the Holy life of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). By following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon) we can spend balance life. I convinced that cleanliness and social distancing are our weapons to fight against corona. Let us stay in our homes and follow basic principles of cleanliness to save our lives from corona. We must follow SOPs made by government whenever we visit public places. We pray may Almighty Allah keep us in peace (Ameen).
