International anti-corruption day held in Chitral
CHITRAL: The International Day of Anti-corruption was celebrated here on Monday in which seminars were held by Young Star Development Organization (YSDO) in Chitral and Drosh on the topic of “Uniting with youth against corruption, shaping tomorrow’s integrity”.
The speakers including the YSDO chairman Asfandiayar Khan and others said that the progress of the country and the prosperity will not be possible without good governance, transparency and strong accountability laws coupled with apparatus to enforce it relentlessly.
Later on, addressing a press conference in Chitral Press Club, the YSDO office holders urged the need of purging the country from the menace of corruption that plagued it and said that all as a member of the society, one must strive to lessen the degree of the dishonesty, fraud and graft.
They laid stress on devising a potent mechanism to make public office holders accountable to an ordinary citizen and show zero tolerance against corruption of the elected representatives.
To celebrate this day, seminars were also held in Drosh (Lower Chitral) and Booni of Upper Chitral in which speakers highlighted the importance of the day.
